Roulette Strategy...beware of 'foolproof systems'

Roulette is one of those game where so many people claim to have a foolproof system that they swear by.  Funnily enough, with all these foolproof systems floating around, every casino still has roulette tables on their gaming floor (or as part of their online offering). Either they are all happy to 'give a little back'  on roulette, or these systems have little substance.  I'm betting on the latter.

Contrary to popular belief, there are no systems in Roulette that give the player a long term edge over the house.  Each spin of the wheel is an independent event, and all possible bets associated with this spin have an in-built mathematical house edge.  Sorry to rain on the parade, but this is just how it is.
